MISSION:
From 2019 - 2023 HELLO NEIGHBOR, SAV partnered with community advocates to bring people together and reduce divisiveness and positively impact public safety, health and equitable outcomes for everyone.
HOW IT WORKS:
We work collectively with local neighborhood and community groups to produce free, diverse, all-inclusive community-based engagement events. The events are created with the purpose of placing the onus of good community relations on each of us by providing a platform that utilizes various artforms as a means to engage with our neighbors citywide.
We also assist groups with non-existent neighborhood associations, community groups or gardens to help reconnect members and increase engagement in our communities.
Although everyone is encouraged to participate, a special invitation is extended to groups that promote social, political, and economic equality.
In 2019 artist Lisa Rundstrom brought over 1000 Savannah Neighbors together to Forsyth Park to meet and support one another though community art projects, speakers, music, vendors and a COMMUNITY PRIDE PARADE.
In 2020 Hello Neighbor SAV was launched as a nonprofit 501c3 and hosted a virtual “Together We Support” Video Parade -AND- a Yard Sign Campaign. This was followed by dozens of small pop-up locations and larger community building events citywide throughout Covid.
Together with our neighbors we have since produced dozens of community events!
Most recently we have been working together with Unity in the Community, Savannah State University Art Club and with Holly Heights Neighborhood Association and Community Garden to restart the NA Assocition and Garden with 89 Holly Heights neighbors.
Thanks to all the sponsors, participants, musicians, artists, and vendors who make these events happen! A special thanks to all the community partners!
In 2024 Hello Neighbor we continued our effort advocating with community partners such as Sister Patt Gunn, the Susie King Taylor Center for Jubilee and The Weeping Time Coalition to help sponsor House Bill 1425.
In 2025 Hello Neighbor SAV is dedicating it's community building commitments to assisting organizations, such as the Center for Jubilee, the Weeping Time Coalition, the IW Cheever Vision Foundation and other equity affiliates.
Thanks to everyone who has participated in the engagemnt events- and those working with their communites everywhere.
